Upgrade DUO to Regenerative Discharger 4S V2 Off-Road

Regenerative Discharger upgrade options let you turn an older DUO into the latest Regenerative Discharger 4S v2. Moreover, the new case looks cleaner and feels more modern. In addition, it drops about 20 ounces and saves space on your pit table.

Next, you simply order the upgrade and ship us your current discharger. Then we convert it to the newest 4S v2 layout and performance level. Also, we reuse your existing battery in the updated unit, so you keep proven components.

What you gain with the 4S v2 upgrade

First, you get a smaller and quieter setup with more usable power. Furthermore, the streamlined wiring keeps your bench tidy and reduces clutter. Consequently, you spend less time managing cables and more time racing.

  • Broad charger support: The 4S works with all Junsi iCharger models, including 456DUO, 458DUO, 4512DUO, 406DUO, 308DUO, 4010DUO, DX6, DX8, DX12, S6, X6, X8, and X12. Additionally, it also supports the ToolkitRC M8D for flexible pit setups.
  • Dual-output cycling: You can cycle, discharge, and/or charge two 2S packs at once, up to 45A, using both DUO outputs. As a result, you prep more packs in less time.
  • Synchronous mode support: Unlike typical dischargers, it works with iCharger DUO Synchronous mode for up to 70A on a 2S pack. Therefore, you unlock higher discharge power when your charger supports it.
  • Testing without extra boxes: You can compare capacity and internal resistance without adding a second device. In fact, regenerative tech helps you avoid the downsides of hot resistor banks.
  • Lower internal resistance over cycles: Over repeated cycling, many racers see reduced internal resistance. Consequently, you can get stronger punch, steadier voltage, and longer pack life.
  • Energy recovery: It recovers energy during discharge and reuses it during charging. Additionally, that means less wasted heat on the bench.
  • No resistor bank hassle: You avoid unplugging resistors after each run. Also, you reduce heat buildup that can distract you during race day.

Cycle 40A video and related resources

Regenerative Discharger upgrade results show up fast when you cycle packs at race-level currents. For example, the video below shows cycling two 2S batteries at 40A. Also, the test used MACLAN Graphene V3 HV LCG Stick 6800 mAh and MACLAN Graphene V3 HV 2S Shorty 6100 mAh packs.

Additionally, see the Regenerative Discharger video for two iCharger X6/X8 setups and common questions.

Usage directions and key specifications

First, follow these charger modes to keep your packs consistent. Moreover, these habits help reduce variance across heats and mains. Finally, keep notes so you can repeat what works.

  • Cycle Mode: Use only the Cycle mode on your charger. Then it discharges and charges automatically for balanced, repeatable prep.
  • Storage Mode: At day end, switch to storage mode. Therefore, you hold packs at safer voltage for the next session.
  • Single battery per car: Dedicate one battery per car when possible. As a result, you keep cell balance steadier over time.
  • Avoid excessive discharge: Do not run the charger Discharge mode several times in a row. Instead, use Cycle mode for controlled routines.
