Description
Regenerative Discharger 2S
A regenerative battery discharger upgrades how you cycle, discharge, and recharge RC packs. Instead of dumping energy as heat, you recover it for charging. As a result, you get cleaner cycles, less clutter, and steadier results.
If you chase repeatable lap times, pack consistency matters as much as motor choice. Therefore, a smart discharge routine helps you hold voltage longer in a run. Additionally, good cycling habits can help you track trends and protect pack health.
Why this regenerative setup stands out
First, RC Discharger built this unit to pair with chargers many racers already own. Specifically, it supports Junsi iCharger models X6, X8, X12, S6, DX6, DX8, DX12, plus the ToolkitRC M8D. Consequently, you can plug it into your program without changing chargers.
Second, you avoid tying up an output with a hot resistor bank. Instead, you can cycle, discharge, and charge two 1S packs at the same time on an iCharger DUO. Also, you can push up to 32A when you combine both outputs.
However, if you want to run two 2S packs at once, choose the Regenerative Discharger 4S. Therefore, you keep the right tool for your class and workload.
Third, the synchronous option boosts discharge current on supported DUO chargers. In particular, you can discharge a 1S pack up to 50A in Synchronous mode. As a result, you can run faster conditioning cycles when rules and pack limits allow it.
Performance benefits you can measure
With a regenerative battery discharger, you compare packs with fewer variables. For example, consistent cycling helps you track capacity and internal resistance trends. Moreover, regenerative discharge helps you avoid the extreme heat spikes that resistor banks create.
- Lower internal resistance potential: At 30A, 32A, or 50A cycles, you can chase stronger punch and longer usable voltage.
- Energy recovery: You reuse recovered energy during charging, so your pit setup runs more efficiently.
- Cleaner pit layout: Short wiring and an all-in-one footprint save space and reduce clutter.
Notably, this approach can also support a more eco-responsible routine. Instead of replacing packs every few months, you can focus on cycle management to extend pack life. Additionally, review battery internal resistance and its effects to set realistic goals for each pack.
How to use it with your charger
Use these habits to keep results stable across race days. First, rely on Cycle mode for routine conditioning. Then, finish the day with Storage mode to protect the pack.
Finally, keep your process consistent so your data stays meaningful. Consequently, you can spot a strong pack quickly and retire a weak one sooner.
- Cycle Mode: Use the charger’s Cycle mode to discharge, then charge automatically.
- Storage Mode: At day’s end, set storage voltage for safer rest periods.
- Single battery per car: Keep one pack dedicated to one car for steadier baselines.
- Avoid excessive discharge: Do not run repeated Discharge-only sessions back to back.
